SUMMARY:Public Policy & Government Affairs Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our monthly Public Policy & Government Affairs meeting. All are welcome.\n\n\n\nThe topics this month will be on the newly proposed Abernethy Green Development at the old Rossman Landfill sight in Oregon City and the Clackamas Fire District #1 Levy.\n\n\n\nJoining us will be Seth Henderson\, President of Summit Development. \n\n\n\nReferred to as the North End of Oregon City\; Seth and his team are looking forward to helping make a 20-year-old dream a reality. In the last ten years Oregon City was the 11th fastest growing city in Oregon by population. The demand for housing\, retail and entertainment is ever increasing. Our team understands the challenges\, is excited to meet them and invites Oregon City to partner with us. Together we can be leaders in taking a degraded area\, raising it to today's environmental standards and turning it into an energetic economy that will meet the needs of this evolving community.\n\n\n\nCFD#1 Levy:\n\n\n\nThe Clackamas Fire District's Board of Directors has referred an emergency services levy to the May 2023 ballot\, which would fund additional firefighters\, support wildfire mitigation\, and quick response vehicles. As one of the largest fire protection districts in Oregon\, Clackamas Fire District responds to nearly 30\,000 calls annually. While service demands have increased by approximately 15% in recent years\, budget challenges have resulted in 9% staffing cuts across frontline crews.\n\nThe priorities for this levy include hiring additional firefighters across the fire district and enabling 24/7 career staffing at two rural fire stations (Logan and Clarkes) that are critical to our wildfire and emergency response.
