DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our monthly Public Policy & Government Affairs meeting. All are welcome.\n\n\n\nTopics will include guest speakers Councilor Christine Lewis and Reed Wagner\, Executive Director of the Willamette Falls Locks Authority\, who will present on the Willamette Falls Locks Project.\n\n\n\nAdditional topics will cover the Initiative Petition #4 - Tolling Requires Regional Voter Approval \, and IP#10 - Oregon Senior Property Tax Freeze Act.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCouncilor Christine Lewis\n\n\n\nChristine Lewis represents the communities of District 2 on Metro Council\, including Oregon City\, Gladstone\, Milwaukie\, Happy Valley\, West Linn\, Lake Oswego\, Rivergrove\, Johnson City\, Southwest Portland\, and unincorporated Clackamas and Multnomah Counties. Currently in her second term\, her responsibilities and committee assignments span from housing and transportation to parks and nature\, solid waste\, and regional cultural venues. \n\n \n\nChristine serves as the Chair of the Willamette Falls Locks Authority and serves on several community and nonprofit boards\, including the Willamette Falls and Landings Heritage Area Coalition and the Clackamas County Business Alliance. Christine graduated from Reed College with her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and earned a Masters of Science in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. She and her family live in the Willamette Neighborhood of West Linn.\n\n \n\nIn 2023 Christine's colleagues elected her to serve as Deputy Council President\, standing in for the President in her absence. Her Metro committee work includes JPACT\, Expo Futures\, and the Tri-County Planning Body for homeless services. She serves on the Community Placemaking\, Metro South Enhancement Grant\, and GLEAN artists residency award bodies. Councilor Lewis holds liaison or ex-officio roles with the Supportive Housing Services Oversight Committee\, RACC\, The Oregon Zoo Foundation\, the Willamette Falls Trust\, and the Clackamas County Coordinating Committee and its subcommittees. She is a member leader of national networks Local Progress and Elected Officials to Protect America.
