Public Policy Meeting
Please join us August 3, 2020 for two topics:
1) Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility Outfall Project; presented by Water Environment Services
2) I-205 & I-5 Tolling Projects Update; presented by Lucinda Broussard and Heather Wills of ODOT
1) explanation: Background: Clackamas Water Environment Services, the regional wastewater treatment provider, is proposing to install a new outfall pipeline that would run from the Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility parallel to I 205 and under the OR 99E off ramp. The new outfall pipeline would run underneath Jon Storm Park in Oregon City and discharge into the Willamette River. The current outfall was constructed in 1984 and is nearing capacity during peak wet weather events. The Oregon City Charter calls for a vote of the people regarding the easements and for the construction of permanent structures unrelated to park use. The proposed project, which is estimated at $21,500,000, would be funded as part of WES’s Capital Improvement Plan. WES has the funding for the outfall pipeline project. The proposed measure, if passed, would not increase taxes. For more information on the project go to www.tricityoutfall.info.
2) explanation: Tolls are one tool the Oregon Department of Transportation is considering to improve our transportation system. This project would toll all lanes of I-205 on or near the Abernethy Bridge to both raise revenue for planned seismic upgrades and transportation improvements and manage congestion between Stafford Road and OR 213. We are evaluating five options where tolls could start and stop -- and how the different options could pay for roadway improvements along the I-205 corridor and manage congestion. ODOT’s 45-day public comment period occurs Aug. 3 through Sept. 16, 2020. The project team will present an overview of the environmental review process and the evaluation of the five options for toll start and stop locations.
Lucinda Broussard, Toll Program Director, Heather Wills, Consultant Team Project Manager and Mat Dolata, Alternatives Analysis lead will be presenters
These meetings are open to all who wish to understand future projects, planned or proposed, for our region.
