Topic: Project Turnkey - Transitional Housing

Clackamas County has moved into the second phase of the state’s Project Turnkey program, which involves the purchase of a hotel or motel to establish transitional housing for people experiencing homelessness. This grant program comes from the State of Oregon Legislature. If successful in acquiring a property, households would be placed in a private room while they are in the process of finding permanent housing. During this time they would receive social services and treatment to help them get back on their feet and move on to permanent housing. On-site staff would ensure that participants have what they need and that the hotel remains a positive presence in the neighborhood.
 
In early December, the Board of County Commissioners approved a purchase and sale agreement with the owners of the Quality Inn located at 9717 SE Sunnyside Road in Clackamas. Clackamas County has 75 days to conduct due diligence on the site, and Project Turnkey 2.0 funding will be awarded at closing, following a determination of site suitability and quality. The closing of this transaction will be contingent on final written approval of the board, and the final determination of the award of a Project Turnkey grant is pending the approval of the Project Turnkey advisory board.
