Public Policy Team Meeting

CAP & TRADE – Manufacturing Carbon Mandates & Legislative Issues
Speaker: Mike Freese w/ Associated Oregon Industries (AOI) will be presenting on the concerns that we have with previous climate legislation – the new legislative proposals that have been designed in a way that would create a competitive disadvantage for Oregon businesses while not reducing global emissions. This means, Oregon businesses and workers would suffer while the proposal would provide little to no environmental benefit. That kind of approach does not work for businesses or Oregonians, regardless of this report's findings.

There will much to learn from Mike on the current conversations going on in Salem, as well as the opportunity to ask your own questions to understand the cause and effect to manufacturers in our region.

Update:  Scott Archer, Director of Parks and Rec:  North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) and North Clackamas School District (NCSD) are finalizing details on a strategic partnership to provide new amenities and community spaces to meet the needs of the residents across both districts. This partnership includes the exchange of NCPRD-owned Hood View Park in Happy Valley for NCSD’s Concord Elementary School building in Oak Grove, Lake Road Administration Building in Milwaukie, and proceeds from NCSD capital bond funds.

I joined the North Clackamas Chamber just before I opened OsteoStrong Happy Valley in June 2019. I have been amazed and thrilled by the incredible support, friendship and patronage of the chamber members. It feels kind of like having a really big family, and they are all rooting for me. I highly recommend that all businesses become an active part of the Chamber because it creates community, awareness and people really do give business and support to each other.

My family owned business has been Chamber members for over 50 years. In that time I have had the opportunity to make friends and numerous business connections. The best part is the Chamber supports many businesses in our community and helps them become successful.
