Damascus Disincorporation Debate

Voters in Damascus will soon have the opportunity to determine whether or not to disincorporate their city. To help educate voters, the North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce is hosting this debate. Ballot Measure 3 – 433 would eliminate the City of Damascus and its residents and businesses would become part of an unincorporated area governed by Clackamas County. Speaking in favor of the measure will be Chris Hawes and speaking in opposition will be Mark Fitz. Residents and business owners in Damascus are urged to attend this important forum, and interested onlookers from neighboring communities are also welcome. The debate will begin with prepared statements and questions from the Chamber, and will conclude with questions from the audience funneled through the moderator. The North Clackamas Chamber has been asked to organize this debate as a neutral party interested in local government.
