About Us

“Yolotl” means “heart” or “spirit” in Nahuatl, an ancient, Indigenous language of Mexico.

From our hearts to yours, we bring you authentic, fresh, locally sourced, made from scratch Mexican food from the geographic heart of the central Mexico. We carry on our family’s cherished traditions in which recipes are lovingly handed down to us from our “abuelitas,” our beloved grandmothers.

Recipes are not written on paper with pen but engraved on the heart through memories of making each dish with the “la heja”—our abuelita, the culinary boss of our family. We took gentle directions to add “un poquito,” (“a little”) to the dish. Many times, we heard our abuelita tell us, “Pruebalo hasta que sepa bueno'” (“Try it until you know it's right”)!

And so, from our hearts to your heart, we bring you the classic foods of Central Mexico.
